Fish Eagle Canoe in the Wilderness Area of Lower Zambezi River - from Mana Pools to Chewore.

Collection Points: Lusaka or Kariba.

Minimum / Maximum Participants: Two / Eight.
Minimum Age Limit: 14 years (no maximum).
Departure Days: Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Time allowed on the day of departure for last minute drinks shopping.

Passport: These must not be taken on the river but can be left in the office with other valuables.

Explorer Safaris: Expeditionary style trips.These are semi participatory with 2 qualified canoe guides who will take care of all the cooking, washing and other camp chores.

Luggage allowance of 10 kgs on the river.

Animals: Elephant, buffalo, impala, waterbuck, hippo, crocodile and plentiful birdlife.Lion, leopard and painted hunting dog are more difficult to see.

Note: the rate does not include national park fees which are payable direct to parks.

Road transfers to and from the safari from Kariba - e.g. from Chirundu / to Mana Pools.

All meals.

Drinks: Cordials not minerals.There is no alcohol, other than wine with dinner each evening.

All canoeing equipment: The canoes are two-man Canadian-style canoes, and the paddles are American Carlisle paddles.

All camping equipment: Two-man dome tents, sleeping bags, liners, mattress, mosquito net, fly sheet, ground sheet and tarpaulin (in case of rainy weather).

Fully qualified canoe guides.

Day 1 - Luggage is portaged into the gorge and after the walk down to the river and briefing session, we start paddling at about 11h00, followed by a picnic lunch and siesta.After that, canoeing commences again at approx. 14h30 until 17h00 where we will then set up camp for the night.

Day 2 - At sunrise, tea/coffee is serverd, followed by a short morning's paddling before stopping for breakfast.Paddling continues from 09h30 until midday, followed by a Lunch and siesta.We will then continue at 15h00 and paddle till 17h00, to Twin Logs Island, where we will overnight.

Day 3 - Similar to Day 2.Overnight on Kakomarara island.

Day 4 - After another sunrise wake up call, paddling continues for a few hours before stopping for breakfast.
After lunch and siesta we will continue until approx. 17h00 and overnight on Lone Acacia Island.

Day 5 - Same as day 4.Overnighting on Trichelia Island.

Day 6 - Tea, coffee and breakfast are served before paddling starts at 08h00.We then arrive back at Mana Pools at 10h00 where all canoes are loaded up for the return trip to Kariba.Arrival at Kariba is approx. at 14h00.
