Bulawayo and Matobos Hills Zimbabwe

Spacious, sunny and friendly, Zimbabwe's second largest city, Bulawayo lies halfway between Beitbridge and Victoria Falls.

With a population of half a million, Bulawayo houses the country`s main museums, theatres and the Chipangali wildlife orphanage.

Once the home to the fabled Ndebele kings, Buluwayo is a attractive city laid out on a grid of streets designed to be so wide that they would allow a team of sixteen oxen to turn full circle

The site of Bulawayo was chosen by Mzilikazi's successor Lobengula in 1870. He called it Gubulawayo, meaning " The place of slaughter", to commemorate his battle victories

Bulawayo is the countries principal railway junction and the axis of it's road network
