A Travel Check List for Zimbabwe in Africa
Overpacking easily heads the list of biggest travel mistakes
British Airways will allow only one bag/per passenger, weighing up to 23 kg in the hold
World Traveller (economy class) passengers arriving with extra bags will pay heavy
SUGGESTED CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT:
In the Southern Hemisphere, mid-summer is at Christmas and winter lasting from May to August
Generally mild winters but night time and early morning temperatures can be low so take at least one warm jacket, if only for early morning and night game drives. Otherwise take comfortable, casual, wash-and-wear clothing.
Sept and October are the hottest months both day and night. Rains start in November (mostly thunderstorms) till March. Definitely light cotton clothes and shorts/light skirts are the most comfortable. A cotton wrap is most useful when canoeing to protect against the sun
Please take soft bags as these are easier for packing in the vehicles and aircraft.
Evening dresses are not necessary. In the bigger hotels gentlemen may wear a jacket for dinner
Luggage is restricted to 12kg maximum per person for travel in charter flights

Bear in mind the following:
- Most safari camps / lodges and hotels provide basic toilet amenities
- Laundry can be done on a daily basis (and many camps provide this service free of charge but hotels do charge a nominal fee)
- Mainly casual clothing is required
As no formal clothes are needed throughout most of southern Africa, we recommend that you limit your luggage to the basics. More formal attire is usually required only when staying in the more prestigious city hotel establishments or on any of the luxury trains. On a game safari, casual clothing is the order of the day.
