Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of intended departure from Namibia. Entry into Namibia is permitted for a maximum duration of 60 days

SOUTH AFRICAN RESIDENTS: South African citizens travelling on foreign passports do not need a departure permit from South Africa, however, they may only use their foreign passport to enter and depart from the country where their passport originates. They must now acquire and travel on a SA passport to any other country they visit otherwise, they need to be in possession of a letter of permission from the Minister of Home Affairs to travel on an alternate passport. Regional Currencies
BOTSWANA
The currency unit is the Botswana Pula (BWP). Travellers can exchange
their currency or South African Rands for BWP at Johannesburg International Airport, Gaborone airport and at Commercial Banks in Maun, Kasane or in South Africa. BWP may also be purchased at the Rennies and American Express Bureau de Change in South Africa. Banks are open Monday to Friday 08h15-12h45 and Saturdays 08h15-10h45. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are only accepted in major towns. BWP are accepted in commercial banks in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Visitors may import/ export a maximum of 5000 Pula in bank notes. Foreign currency may be imported and exported without restriction provided declared on arrival |
NAMIBIA
The currency unit is the Namibian Dollar (NAD). Travellers can exchange their currency or South African Rands for Namibian Dollars on arrival at Windhoek International Airport or in commercial banks in Windhoek and Swakopmund. Banks are open Monday to Friday 09h00-15h30 and Saturdays 09h00-10h30. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are accepted in major towns but not in rural areas.
Visitors may import/ export a maximum of NAD500 in bank notes.
Foreign currency may be imported and exported without restriction provided declared on arrival. The South African Rand is currently acceptable in Namibia |
SOUTH AFRICA
The currency unit is the South African Rand (ZAR). Travellers can exchange their currency into ZAR on arrival at Johannesburg International Airport (located in International arrivals hall - open 24 hours) or in most commercial banks in the country. Banks are open Monday to Friday 09h00-15h30 and Saturdays 09h00-11h00. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are widely accepted (except in rural areas).
Visitors can import and export their foreign currency without restriction provided declared upon arrival. When entering South Africa, S.A. bank notes in excess of ZAR500 will not be allowed unless you are in possession of the necessary permit. |
ZAMBIA
The currency unit is the Zambian Kwacha (ZMK). Travellers can exchange their currency or South African Rands, Zimbabwe Dollars and Botswana Pulas for Zambian Kwachas at commercial banks in Zambia. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are only accepted in major towns. United States Dollars (USD) in cash, are widely acceptable, and are considered the preferential form of payment in most areas of Zambia.

ZIMBABWE
ZWD bank notes are not accepted by banks in South Africa, Botswana or Namibia. Most banks in Zimbabwe will not accept USD100 bank notes due to a large amount of counterfeit notes in circulation.
SPENDING MONEY
We suggest that you take along enough spending money for private expenses, souvenirs, tips to assistant guides, river guides and tour guides, drinks and the occasional meal or evening out. Allow the equivalent of +-USD10 - USD20 (ZAR50 - ZAR100) per day |
MOCAMBIQUE
The currency unit is the Moçambique Metical (MZM). US Dollars and South African Rands are widely accepted. It is essential to carry cash in US Dollars or South African Rands in small denominations.
Credit cards and travellers cheques are not accepted. Banks are open Monday to Friday 08h00-11h00.
